Print Design Services
Print Design and web design are similar, yet very different. A good print designer must consider many things that a web designer does not.
For starters, a print designer must consider the type of paper used, print friendly ink colors and design, size of the paper or signage and the possibility of cuts that are off the mark.
Here are a few things I consider when creating a printed piece:
Bleeds: Sometimes a printed piece is cut off-center. It is important to have the colors of the piece extend beyond the outside borders to ensure that an off-centered cut goes unnoticed.
Think Outside the Box: Images and lettering should not be limited to inside the borders. Most words and images are recognizable to the brain without seeing the edges.
Consider throwing a Knock-out Punch: In instances, where a bigger splash is needed, white type on a dark background usually makes more impact that regular dark text on a white background.
Cool it on the Gradients: Using a gradient on a printed piece is risky, unless you know you have top quality printing services. They often can look choppy and bad. To enhance printed pieces, consider using a asymmetrical grid to cut images and text boxes.
Less is More: Make your point and make it quick. Too much text makes people lose interest in situations where you might only have their attention for a very short amount of time.
