Minneapolis Blog Consulting

The following is a list of blogging web sites that allow you to set-up your own blog in just a few minutes. If you want to do more with your blog to personalize it, add widgets and increase traffic, you may want to get some help.

Wordpress.com
I host my blog on wordpress.com. Their sister company wordpress.org allows you to download the source code and host the site yourself. Overall I am pretty happy with Wordpress and don't plan on switching anytime soon.

The one downfall to wordpress.com is that it is very difficult to really plug in javascript. The analytics could definitely be improved.

Blogger.com
My blogging career began on blogger.com. The site was purchased by Google, thus I really did see more organic traffic through Blogger, than I do currently with Wordpress. The site costs nothing to create your own look & feel, however comments are defaulted to an uncustomized look & feel.

Typepad.com
I won't pretend to be a typepad whiz kid, but the site boasts some incredible blogs that are hosted on the site. From what I can tell it does a great job optimizing pages, creating a sitemap and submiting content to Google.

LiveJournal.com
Admittedly, I am the most unfamiliar with LiveJournal. If you are a serious blogger I would suggest looking elsewhere, although there have been some pretty successful blogs hosted on Live Journal.

Twitter.com
Is twittering considered blogging? We could debate this all day, but if you are looking for a site where you can blog in realtime from your mobile phone - then Twitter may be your solution. The postings are limited to the standard text limit of 160 characters, so there are some limitations, but that doesn't mean that it is without extra features. If you have never visited the site check it out and view a profile of someone who Twitters frequently. You might just find it addicting.
